Pastor John Martz • 1 Corinthians 16:1-4 • 29:47

Few things provide a litmus test for the priorities of our heart like the whole area of money and finances. Another one of the tools God uses to grow us is in the allocation of our resources. And even as there are core principles to growth through physical exercise, many of those same principles are true in the area of stewardship. According to Paul, our giving needs to be regular, intentional, and push us.

Change takes time, and like the making of a fine wine, it can't be rushed. We need to structure our lives such that continued growth in the Christian life is truly a priority in the hectic schedules of our daily lives. Since both times alone with God and service to others are key catalysts of growth, we need to make sure that we make time for both in the rhythm of life week by week.

Growth happens differently to each of us. It is important to remember that God never grows two people the same way. God is a hand-crafter, not a mass-producer. How is He uniquely growing you?

God's Word shapes our lives, our values, and our actions. We are people of the Word, and the most important question we can keep asking is "Where is it written?" Not only is it authoritative, but the power of Scripture comes as we apply its truth to our lives, and as we watch God use it to transform us into His image.
