Selah Sunday 2026

A few times each year, we pause for a Selah service, creating space to reflect on what God has been teaching us and how we are responding. The word "selah" appears throughout the Psalms and is often understood as an invitation to stop, reflect, and pay attention to God's presence. This month's Selah service served as the conclusion of our Sermon on the Mount series, giving us an opportunity to look back on Jesus' teachings in Matthew 5-7 and consider how they are shaping our lives. Because this Selah service coincided with an All Church Sunday, children joined us in worship rather than attending their regular classes.
During the service, four members of our congregation shared personal testimonies about what it means to be "salt and light" in their everyday lives. Their stories highlighted the many ways God works through ordinary acts of faithfulness, kindness, and service. Pastor Nicki and Pastor Jodi also offered a visual illustration using bread made with and without yeast, helping us see how something small can have a significant impact. Together, we celebrated what God has been teaching us through the Sermon on the Mount and were encouraged to continue living out the way of Jesus in our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.
